Welcome to The Tufted Titmouse Book Club!

In a letter to John Adams dated June 10, 1815, Thomas Jefferson wrote, "I cannot live without books." From a very young age, I felt the same. Growing up in rural Pennsylvania, a library card became a tremendous supplement to my public school education. Through books, I traveled to faraway places, learned new languages, and explored extinct cultures. Though I am thankful for the formal education I later received at university, it was mostly my informal education in the library that led me to a career in museum work.

As director of a museum, I am able to engage with informal education on a daily basis. Over the last two years, I have developed educational programming that reached the Smithsonian, college campuses, and local classrooms. These book boxes incorporate everything that my career as a museum professional has taught me about building experiences around objects, artwork, and stories. They bring those experiences to your home, and offer a new way to engage with classic literature and the amazing people that created it.

I warmly welcome all to this community and I look forward to diving deep into the history that inspired the stories!

There is both an adult and teen & young readers subscription box.

The Adult: There will be six boxes each year. They will be mailed in February, April, June, August, October, and December.

The Teens & Young Adults: There will be four boxes each year. They will be mailed in  January, April, July, October. Each of the teen & young readers boxes will correlate with the adult boxes. For example: If the December book is Little Women for the Adults, then the January book for the teens and young readers will also be Little Women. Gifts will facilitate learning and will be age appropriate.

The hope is to create memories and experiences centered around a story for parents and children to share!

What is in each box:

  • A beautiful collectible edition of the book.
  • A supplemental reading guide that provides historical context, facts about the book and author, and book club questions for you to lead your own reading group.
  • 2- 3 thoughtfully curated open as you read gifts to provide a multi-sensory reading experience.
  • A well researched travel itinerary of places to visit that are connected with either the book or the author.
